Hi all and welcome to the Root Cause Clinic Podcast.
Before I jump into things today, I just want to say how proud I
am of all of you for your dedication to bettering yourselves.
I want to remind you that by doing this work,
not only are you healing yourself, you're healing your entire lineage.
I know it's easy to feel lonely in this process,
but I want to remind you that you're not alone.
There are 20 incredible members inside the Root Cause Clinic,
and beyond that, I'm here for you every step of the way.
So keep going, keep doing the work,
you're doing great. This week's quote is one that I've always loved by Martin
Luther King Jr., faith is taking the first step,
even when you don't see the whole staircase. So with that being said,
let's dive into the your questions for this week.
As always, thank you for submitting your amazing topics.
The first question is, can you speak a bit about how root cause work
can intersect with or heal conditions like chronic pain and
ADHD? Split this one up into two different answers.
So in terms of chronic pain, there is always a root cause.
This is a topic that's very important to me because my mother had fibromyalgia
my entire life growing up and was gaslit and mistreated by some of the
best doctors in the U.S. She's actually a big reason why I started my
practice. When it comes to chronic pain,
the catalyst is typically different depending on the person.
Some commonalities usually include trauma stored in the tissues and the
fascia. I love the book The Body Keeps the Score to learn more about
this. I often recommend myofascial release to my chronic pain clients because
it really helps to open up any tight fascia contributing to the pain.
Toxin load and nervous system dysregulation are also big
root causes here.
Ultimately, with any unrelenting chronic symptom,
it's a sign that your toxin bucket is overflowing.
Steps for healing chronic pain include plenty of nervous system support,
ideally something like breathing like somatic experiencing therapy,
and working through the correct order of operations for detoxing.
The next part of this question referred to ADHD.
It comes to any kind of neurological symptoms,
we have to look at toxins and trauma because typically symptoms like this begin
in ,
When it comes to any kind of neurological symptoms,
we have to look at toxins and trauma because typically symptoms like this begin
in childhood or early adolescence when neurocognitive development is happening.
The biggest contributor to neurological conditions like ADHD or even autism is usually
toxin load, especially heavy metals.
Most people ask how that's possible in infants who haven't had much exposure,
but you have to remember that many of the heavy metals present in mother's
body are getting passed down in uterus.
during pregnancy. A study published in 2018 found that
lead and cadmium were associated with susceptibility to ADHD and symptom
severity in school-aged children. They proposed that eliminating exposure to
heavy metals may help to prevent neurodevelopmental disorders in children.
Another study conducted in 2018 found that baby teeth from children
with autism contain more toxic lead and less of the essential nutrients like
zinc and manganese compared to teeth from children without autism.
And I will also link both of these studies in the notes below for
your reference. Overall, it's going to be different depending on the person,
but with m- Overall,
it's going to be different depending on the person, but with both chronic pain
and ADHD as well as most chronic health conditions.
I'm looking at the two T's here, toxins and trauma.
Alright, the next question was can you share some recommendations for PCOS
issues? So with PCOS,
when you go to the doctor, they're going to tell you that it's caused
by insulin resistance, inflammation, excess androgen,
and usually your genes. And none of these things are root causes in and
of themselves, so we have to dig deeper.
We have to ask what's driving the inflammation.
Is it processed foods? Parasites in the gut and your genital system?
Heavy metals in the uterus? Chronic mold exposure causing insulin imbalances?
Chronic stress driving up cortisol levels?
Or sluggish liver drainage making it impossible for your body to even convert sex
hormones? There's so many questions that we need to ask to actually understand the
root causes of PCOS. And again,
everyone's root causes are going to look slightly different.
That's why my root cause roadmap is important to make sure we're hitting all
of those bases and covering all of the root causes in the right order.
So my first recommendation for anyone with PCOS is to first do this deeper
root cause work. Once we've done a lot of remineralizing,
nervous system support, nutritional support,
opened drainage pathways and worked through parasites and deeper toxins,
then for maintenance you can also consider adding in things like inositol for egg
quality. And continuing with a high quality magnesium supplement.
But really the question isn't how can I support PCOS,
the question is how can I reduce my overall toxin load and create safety
in my body to the point where my hormones become balanced and my menstrual
cycle regulate. If hormones aren't root causes,
we always have to look deeper into what's driving that stress in the endocrine
system. Okay, next question which is on a similar topic.
Is it normal for your period to change in frequency or flow while doing
this work? What is this a sign of? So yes,
this is completely normal. And it's actually a good sign that your body is
doing some deeper drainage and detox work in your reproductive system,
so your Period is an important drainage
pathway. It's really the only way your uterus purges toxins So when we add
in systemic whole body stress support like binders,
para-1, castor oil packs,
etc, your uterus is going to start shedding toxins like metals,
chemicals, and even parasites each month during your period.
With that, your period is going to look a bit different.
Typically, you'll see more clots while detoxing.
These are actually often small clumps of biofilm or fungus.
Additionally,
doing this work is also decongesting your liver,
which is going to balance out your sex hormones. So as that happens,
you're going to see some shifts with your menstrual cycle. as well,
if your sex hormones like progesterone were imbalanced before we started together.
Okay, next question was, how long does it usually take to heal cystic acne?
This topic is also very near and dear to me,
as chronic cystic acne was always my worst symptom,
and it was my very first treatment. Last symptom to completely heal.
This is a trickier question, because everyone's acne root cause is usually quite a
bit different. Some people will completely eliminate their acne forever,
simply by adding in extra liver support.
Others, it takes months and months of comprehensive work to remineralize the body,
heal the gut barrier, calm the stressors.
response, purge parasites that are contributing,
the list goes on. So it's very very different depending on the person.
This is also where I have a bone to pick with acne healing programs,
because they'll post the testimonials from people who were just needing some extra mineral
support or something very basic and miraculously achieved clear
treatment. skin. The truth is, if you've had a chronic cystic acne for years
on end, it's coming from something internal,
and it's probably going to take at least a year of comprehensive work to
fully heal it. One recommendation I have here,
while working through Toxin Load and focusing on a whole foods diet,
is to make sure you aren't using any pore clogged products.
I'll link my favorite skin ingredient checker in the notes below if you want
to check that out. When it comes to skincare,
I swear by the brand ClearStem, which made a huge difference in my skin.
A lot of my clients use it as well. They use 100% non-toxic and
non-pore clogged products. Which is amazing.
I will link them in the notes below as well.
The last question was less of a question and more of a topic suggestion
to share more about the highs and lows of the healing journey.
This is something I could talk about for hours, but I will try to
keep it sustained. This is something I
could easily talk about for hours, but I will try to keep it sustained.
is taking as many medications as possible to minimize my symptoms.
Every single person in my life doubted me when I refused to go the
western route. It was a level of loneliness I truly cannot describe.
I did this deeper root cause work for nearly two years straight before I
had a full month where I didn't experience anything.
So when it comes to lows, I know those.
Lows in the healing journey, I'm very familiar with those.
I think the hard part about this work is that on social media,
we see the pretty aspects of healing, but no one ever shows the darker
side. And most of this work is dark.
It's not for the faint of heart. But what I can tell you is
that healing is possible. And there might be times,
even months on end, where you want to give up,
but you have to keep going. Because when you're doing these deeper levels of
work, it's not a question of if you can heal,
it's how long will it take. If you have tenacity and grit,
then you have what it takes. And some people don't have what it takes,
and that's okay too. But it is worth it,
and you're worth the time and effort it takes to heal.
The key piece of this is to remember that healing doesn't happen in a
vacuum. Humans need support and community,
so keep reaching out for help and support.
Even when you don't always feel like it. The highs of this journey,
at least in my experience, come from sharing wins and revelations with others.
I think another beautiful part of it is realizing just how delicate life really
is, and how we have to appreciate every moment.
Dealing with severe chronic symptoms really forces you to conform.
You have the fact that you won't live forever, and I've actually found that
to be a huge blessing. So many people take life for granted,
and this journey has taught me that every single second is a gift.
I'd say the other biggest high is also understanding how infinitely intelligent
your body really is. And this one takes time.
It takes time to trust your body again. But with energy work,
we're really tapping into your body's exact needs,
and it shows your body already has the codes to healing within it.
We just have to listen. All right,
I'm going to go ahead and end this week's podcast here.
On a good note, thanks as always for submitting your questions.
